Tidbits from teabagville
Phrases I actually heard the local teabags say this past week.

"Why can't Obama understand we don't want government in our healthcare?"
"It's pretty stupid that Medicare only pays for foot exams if you are diabetic. What am I supposed to do?" (yes, same person within a 5 min conversation)

"There's no reason for them to tax gasoline. They get too much of our money already."
"I wish ***** county would do something about that huge pothole at ***** road."

"These nanny staters wanting the government to decide for them what is safe to eat....."
"Complete government failure letting dangerous cantaloupes out. I guess the union inspectors needed another paid break."

1. Compartmentalized thinking?
Especially that first; within 5 minutes they'd forgotten what they already said or they just couldn't make the connection from A to B.

On the other hand, I've been known to make connections that have people scratching their heads until I explain the 478 steps my brain went through to get there. LOL

I'm weird.

5. Weird is good.
With Teabags they seem to have 2 compartments. "Me" and "everyone else". From what I can tell "Small Government" means "only for me".

3. It's just mental laziness, and I see it a lot
Many like you describe ARE able to see their own illogical-ness if you point it out them to it tactfully, and can in fact grasp critical thinking if you lead the way; that is if they're not ego-driven stubborn or hyper competitive.
