3. I read a while back that personally, he's a an ass
Edited on Thu Sep-15-11 10:48 PM by RZM
Of course, that's par for the course for agitators like himself. Solzhenitsyn was an ass too, but he was also a courageous dissident and wrote one of the best pieces of literature of the last 50 years. Another Soviet dissident, Vladimir Bukovsky, is a total prick as well.

Often things work out that way. It's not a surprise that people who are willing to say 'go fuck yourself' to the powers that be also say that to just about everybody else.

*On edit*

BTW, I do feel compelled to note that the two Russians I mentioned spent time in the GULag (Solzhenitsyn) and prisons/mental institutions (Bukovsky) for saying things that every American takes for granted. Nader has never had to sacrifice like that. Not that he should, but it should be noted.

4. I've never forgiven him for destroying one of the most innovative
cars that GM ever developed

Allowing the foreign car companies to eventually dominate the small, fun to drive market and ultimately destroy the US auto industry.

9. The pinto certainly did more, but I remember at least one corvair

going up in smoke when I was younger. I do remember a front-mounted gas tank, and the steering was perhaps way more responsive than most people were prepared to drive, all of which have contributed to problems.

But that was a long time ago and far, far away, so I may not remember what I think I do ;)

18. Accesory gasoline -burning heater
Likely a Stewart-Warner "Southwind". One of Corvair's REAL problems was exhaust and oil fume contamination in the engine-driven heating system. And old school VW owners can sympathize - air-cooled engines just don't make much heat unless the engine is working hard.

16. Neither did I. I had a much older brother that owned one.
He loved the car. It was an oil trap, but it never caught fire.

and we could have been spared from all the damage that Bush jr. did. We could have had a president who appreciates how serious climate change is for once in our lives.

24. Once he was our douchebag, and a glorious douchebag he was. But then we parted and now...
he's a classic reminder of the saying that there are some people that you'd rather have on the inside pissing out than on the outside pissing in.
