Okay, so since Boehner (and McConnell previously) essentially
said NO to the Jobs Bill, what now?

Is there ANYTHING Obama can do that doesn't require the Congress?

1. Not a lot when it comes to job creation.
Congress is involved in almost all substantive measures that could generate jobs, since it holds the purse strings.

What he CAN do is to make it clear where the problem lies. Over and over again, loudly, and in public.

What would you like him to veto?

9. On what? What bills have crossed his desk that he could
veto? You don't seem to be keeping up very well.

21. Every single elected Democrat needs to do that, and with
catchy memorable phrases -- just like the Republicans do. But how do we get them to do that? They observe what we do, they see the Republicans get their line du jour and get it out there every damn time they speak, why haven't we learned from that?

So, you say you want a revolution...

Catchy song lyric, isn't it, nadin?

The street is just outside your door.

6. He could admit that bipartisanship is a pipe dream
Use the word 'Republicans' when casting blame, and just for good measure, stop the stupid religious bigotry nonsense. He is not worth the sermons and prejudices at this point. I'd rather have a President who is not prejudiced against my kind of person.

19. I think we all agree with that, but how does that get them
to sign a bill that would put people back to work?

We're beyond politics at this point, I think -- because the politics haven't worked, and wouldn't have worked regardless of what Obama said about partisanship. They have a mandate to oppose everything his puts forth, which is why I'm asking if there's some way to bypass them.

14. He needs to think about what can be done with already appropriated funds
and by Executive Order. He also needs to go to the People and blame the Republicans (NOT congress) for obstructing his plan, and for not coming up with ANY alternative. He needs to start railing against DO NOTHING REPUBLICANS.

programs for which they were appropriated? I don't think there's a slush fund he can use. Any funds that could be diverted would be taken away from some other purpose, costing jobs in that area.

Now, there are some military budget things he could work with, since he is CiC. That is true. But there are many upfront costs involved with shutting down one military mission to make the funds available. Further, almost all military cuts would involve mustering out a bunch of people, adding to the jobs situation.

If you have some specific suggestions about what funds he could use on discretionary spending, let's hear them. I can't think of any, offhand. All the money is already targeted. There's nothing available that isn't already in use.
