Nurses Sick over ‘Let Him Die’ Moment at Republican Debate

Nurses Sick over ‘Let Him Die’ Moment at Republican Debate
by Tula Connell
September 14, 2011

This week’s Republican debate has now achieved perverse fame for the “Let him die” moment that occurred when the audience cheered and applauded as Wolf Blitzer asked Rep. Ron Paul (Texas) whether society should just let a sick person die if he can’t afford health insurance.

As do all of us in the union movement, the National Nurses United (NNU) expressed revulsion at the cheering.

NNU Co-President Jean Ross, RN, called the audience’s response “stunning.”

My first reaction is how far have we degenerated as a society? Everything we do is geared toward preventing illness, and getting people well. If no one cares whether our patients get well, what are we doing advocating for them and fighting for them?

1. Those Responses Should be Shunned as Sociopathic
I think this is the right approach however as I asked before, is the MSM reporting it? Or are they giving the republican party cover AGAIN?

2. my friend wrote me a letter the other day
My friend lives in Holland and he wrote to me, "What a very sad world we live in today." He was so very right.

This is plain SAD (not to mention sick).

Anyone that would embrace such thinking deserves nothing and I do mean nothing.

May people that think like this enjoy their afterlives in hell which is where they will end up no matter how they believe. :(

What a very sad world indeed.

:kick:

3. How many of those have had a family member go through extreme illness
or death and witness the work and compassion of those nurses in hospitals and hospices?

I've read many obituaries and many have had thanks to those people that have helped the deceased in their last period of time.

5. grayson nailed it on countdown, sadism is central to the teabagger mindset.
they are sick, nihilistic people and they
want society to crumble.
