There's political stunts and then there's just plain ol' pettiness
Texas GOP Rep. Louis Gohmert officially introduced the American Jobs Act of 2011 on Wednesday afternoon.

"My bill is not the president's bill, it's a real job creator," Gohmert told The Hill, shortly after filing his two-page alternative to the president's plan, under the same title.

Gohmert said that he read the president's 155-page jobs plan, when it was emailed to lawmakers on Monday afternoon.

Calling the president's plan a "disaster," Gohmert said that he checked to see "who filed the 'American Jobs Act' for the president, here in the House, since we had to do it 'now, right away," but discovered that the plan had not been officially introduced in the House.

So, at 1:20pm Gohmert filed his own version of a jobs bill, under the title included on the president's legislation distributed to members of Congress two-days prior.

stunning

I'm not even all that jazzed by the President's proposal but this is just small, petty, mean-spirited and vindictive.

1. What's next? Punching Democratic reps in the stomach and then taking their lunch money?
What is Gohmert? A five year old?

3. Who was suppose to file the President's plan?
I would think it would come from the majority leadership.

So was this planned? Sabotage? Don't file the president's, then slip in the GOP plan by the same name?

Then they say to everyone, "ok, we'll vote & pass the American Jobs Act". Only to find later it's the bogus plan?

There is nothing honorable to these people. They are anti-American.

7. Quite true. If the roles were reversed, we would be applauding this stunt.
It is the president's fault for not preparing the bill before his speech and getting a Dem congressman to submit it. Until that point, the title was up for grabs, and Gohmert beat them to it.

8. Surprise, surprise! Gohmert's bill ELIMINATES the corporate income tax.
The idea of companies moving jobs back to the US by eliminating the corporate income tax (which many companies currently don't pay) is as believable as Gohmert's "terror babies."

9. What in the hell happened to the pre election Obama team? Why didn't
some Democratic congressperson put the bill in in the two days it has been sitting there? Why didn't the administration have someone lined up to put it in the minute it was released. Side note, kind of idiotic to go around saying "Pass the bill now!" when the bill hasn't even been filed yet.

I guess the new speech line will be "Pass the bill once we get around to filing it, but not the American Jobs Act, no that name is taken, but we will get back to you once we think of catchy name!" Yep, rolls off the tongue.

10. His Bill eliminates the corporate income tax and preserves all credits.
So in short the IRS ends up paying Exxon and Google 20% a year instead of the other way around. I guess he was too giddy about stealing the name to zero out capital gains tax rates as well.

11. it will officially be known as "hb1234" or something like that
gohmert's bill will eventually become known as a "dead bill", where as obama's bill will eventually become known as "the law of the land".
