Al Gore: It's An Honor To Be Attacked On Climate Change Categories: National News, Politics, Environ
Edited on Wed Sep-14-11 03:46 PM by nadinbrzezinski
"There's a long tradition of people who don't like a particular message turning to attack the person delivering the message," former Vice President Al Gore just said on NPR's Talk of the Nation.

Achmad Ibrahim/AP
Former Vice President Al Gore.
That's why, the 2000 Democratic presidential nominee added, "I view it as an honor, really," to be the target of Republican jabs on the issue of climate change.

He went on to accuse those who express the loudest doubts about whether humans are contributing to climate change of "doing exactly the same thing that the tobacco industry did after the Surgeon General's report came out" linking smoking to cancer. "They hired actors and dressed them up as doctors and gave them scripts" saying that smoking isn't harmful. Today, said Gore, "carbon polluters" are paying for climate change doubters to say similar things.

richer and richer every day from this issue. It's in his best interest to attack skeptics. Pot and kettle.

8. In what way is Gore a hypocrite?
Because he's earning money? Or he doesn't conform to some other standard that nobody else in the world is held to?

9. There are two major ways you can change society and in turn the world, politics, and economics,
A third way might be culture to some degree.

Gore served the nation in the political sphere for 24 years, he was warning about the looming global warming crisis over twenty years ago and few if any in political power took heed.

Now Gore is in the economic/business sphere and as our nation runs on capitalism, Gore is using the power of the market to change society, I see nothing inconsistent in this.

In politics and economics it's virtually always in the protagonist's best interests to take on the skeptics regarding critical issues, the fundamental question is do the facts support the attacker's contention?"

Considering that 90+% of the world's climate scientists support Gore's political position on the critical issue of global warming climate change, the answer to that previous question is most assuredly yes.

In short, I hope Gore becomes a billionaire if it helps our nation change to green, sustainable, renewable forms of energy, while diminishing if not eliminating the effects of global warming climate change.

15. Hmmmm
Bold statement, followed by a non sequitur, then a retreat into sophistry. I don't think we're going to get an answer, but the points of your post are well taken, Uncle Joe.

18. Gore's a hypocrite.
He uses more energy then Bush did.

He flies in energy inefficiently private plates.

He drives SUV's.

He's just a big hypocrite. It's no wonder people think he made up the "climate change" thing(FYI, I think climate change is real, just not Al Gore's commitment to it) to make a buck.
