Marcy Kaptur versus Dennis Kucinich in a primary?

It sounds like Dennis Kucinich is planning to stay in Ohio and run in one of the new districts:

However, parts of his district were merged with parts of Marcy Kaptur's district, so I think this means he's going up against Kaptur in a primary. The new 9th district contains about a third of Toledo, a section of Cleveland, and a narrow strip along Lake Erie that connects the two. Assuming Ohio Republicans get away with this obvious gerrymander, I'm not sure who I'd want to win that race.

I'm currently in Kaptur's district, but I think I'm getting gerrymandered into a nearby rural district that votes for the bad guys. It's hard to tell, since Toledo is being divided up pretty severely.

I'm sure you have. District 9 is not only narrow, but almost non-existent in stretches. 3 is just the very center of Columbus, with 15 now a huge backward C wrapped somewhat around it. 11 now is the Eastern burbs of Cleveland and northern Akron area rebub strongholds. Longtime GOP water-carrier Bob Latta now fits up nicely against teabagger Jim Jordan. What has been created is 12 incumbent repub districts and everyone else pushed into 4 Democratic areas. This is gerrymandering in the classic sense.

As for Marcy versus Dennis, I think this is and always was the intended purpose of this atrocity.

but I'm going to need a real street-level map of Lucas County to figure out which district I'm in. I think it might be Latta's.

My area of Toledo is middle-income at best, racially diverse, and faces all the usual urban issues, but we'll have a guy "on our side" whose hometown hosts the national tractor-pulling championship. That'll be great.

He should move to a different district if he wants to run again, in my opinion.
