17. I use BBC and several other sources via FB newsfeed
and of course stories posted here. I would also suggest the Christian Science Monitor as a pretty good news source. Give it a look-see when your time permits.

18. Will do -- thanks. I'm lazy in that I primarily use DU for my
news source as everything seems to end up here! But there's so much I miss a LOT, so I'm going to get off my butt and check out some other resources! :hi:

21. Most news organizations have a FB presence
Mother Jones is on there along with Alternet, Coffee Party, Al Jazzera (might have misspelled that one), AFLCIO, BBC, CNN, NY Times, Christian Science Monitor & your locals as well. I know that FB has it's detractors, but I find it to be a great newsfeed for me as well as a means of connecting to friends both old & newer. It's all in how you use it.

20. Fear by whom -- Britain?
Regardless, I think that fear is warranted.

I'm wondering if it's not BIG NEWS here for fear of the masses rising up.

It's just heartbreaking.

24. Yes, Britain and also in Germany
If we turn to Fascism, it's going to impact them, and not in a good way.

Der Spiegel ran a 6 part series, A Superpower in Decline.
http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/0,1518,726447,00.html

There are concerns about nativism, and in Part 4 even refer to Glenn Beck as a proto-fascist, which of course he is.

I think there is real fear in the rest of the world that the U.S. is on a very dangerous course.

25. Thanks for the clarification, just wasn't sure I was understanding
what you were saying.

There's real fear here, too, IMO, at least among those who are paying attention.

23. that's what I tell my students: you get better coverage of American politics in the British press
and even Al Jazeera.

Hell, they probably cover some of our LOCAL news better.

13. Politico current page read "Voters Rebuke Obama in two special elections."
Heaven for bid the facts. Maybe the voters are a little pissed that their Congressman sent naked photos of himself. As for the Nevada seat, the Democratic party has NEVER won that seat. Uhhhh

16. CNN= Crummy Nonsense Network.
They are the reason journalism professors in America keep calling the news media of today worthless shits.

Look at the Bread and Circus headlines on CNN: dirty dancing cops, dead soap stars, Palin gibberish, Barry Manilow non-story, wacky crime stories, etc. It's just all pure shit, no better than grocery store checkout magazines.

22. Lighten up, people!
You really and truly expect CNN to, like, take a picture or run a clip of people they can't see? You expect them to turn a camera on people in poverty? I suppose you'd like to see footage of unicorns, too! You libruls always want the impossible.
