I've been looking for about ten minutes for live election results, to no avail. Maybe it's because the polls just closed.

4. TPM tweeted something to keep in mind regarding NY-09

@thinkprogress
NOTE: New York's 9th district, where the special election is taking place tonight, will almost certainly be eliminated in redistricting.

7. Not "safe." It's an angry, OLD, narrow electorate, largely Jewish mad at Obama and his policy on
Israel which is BULLSHIT since it is the same policy of about every other administration we had since Israel became a country. Also lots of anger, of course, over the economy so lots of protest voting. Plus a weak D handpicked candidate. The only hope is if the D did better with a superior turnout operation.

47. The U.S. Constitution doesn't mandate that federal lawmakers live in their congressional districts.
It simply says they must reside in the state they represent when elected.

infuriated the orthodox rabbis in that district, and didn't sit too well with the Archie Bunker types either.

66. Not by a long shot
People are pissed. And when they're pissed off, they want to punish someone and they tend to do things that may cause them harm in the long run for the sheer joy of "sticking it" to the people who pissed them off. We already saw that in 2010.
