So why (according to 'Baggers) is it evil when people associate in the form of government
Edited on Tue Sep-13-11 03:07 PM by arbusto_baboso
but when those same people form a corporation or a church, that's not only okay, but the paragon of goodness?

I mean, government (ideally) should be more accountable to more people than any corporation or church. Did I just answer my own question?

1. I can't speak for TPrs; however, there is one significant distinction...
Edited on Tue Sep-13-11 03:49 PM by Cool Logic
No private organization has the legal power to initiate the use of force against others to get them to act against their own voluntary will.

Only the government has the legal power to force obedience under threat of physical injury, property expropriation, imprisonment, or death.

2. Because the Koch's and other rich pigs want to pollute freely without regulation, ...
and want to amass wealth at the cost of the rest of us. So they fund astroturf efforts to entrap the weak minded into such idiocy as teabaggery.

3. that is not what TP's believe

If you are going to comment, at least know your enemy.

TP's are not against govt, they are against overly intrusive govt. They want limited govt, not no govt.

TP's do not claim that all corp's and all church's are good either. They make the claim that a corp that is too big to fail is too big to exist and should be broken up.

4. If they believe in limited government why do they insist on
taking away peoples rights, the rights they disagree with? Abortion, marriage, hell even the right to vote for some. That is more intrusive that what we have now, but that's what they want, try again. :eyes:

9. You are falling for the propaganda
Abortion is certainly controversial even among Democrats.

Marriage can go either way, I have spoken with some TP's that want govt vompletely out of the marriage industry, let people marry as they please, no license from the govt, no tax breaks, no consideration at all. Others want a strict definition.

I have not met anyone that advocates for taking away the right to vote from a US citizen.

I suggest you get beyond the propaganda. Know your enemy.

14. I agree with you.
I went into culture shock when I moved from Chicago to Arizona. Now, almost all of my friends are Republicans and two consider themselves teapers.

I've known many, many Libs/Dems/Progs that are anti-choice. I also know several Republicans that are pro-choice. I dated a man that was bi-sexual...and Conservative. Most of my right-wing friends don't give a damn who anyone marries and think the whole argument is a waste of time.

The only disagreement you'll get from me is the voting issue. I HAVE talked to Republicans/teapers that would choose to limit voting rights to those with a college education, a job and natural born citizen. I don't recall ever speaking to a lefty that would deny voting rights to anyone.

I enthusiastically agree with your last sentence. Although, I don't consider them my "enemy". I think you used that for the point and not literally, though. We're all Americans and like any dysfunctional family, there are those we just will never agree with. But, their rights are the same as ours and as long as we keep fighting...they always will be. Needless to say, the right paints us with the same broad brush that we use to paint them. We just use prettier colors.

You do realize that by agreeing with you I've just alienated 74% of DU, right? Not that I haven't anyway.

27. So why are so many new voting "rules" being implemented? Why are they
trying to make it so hard to even register, they don't want to accept student IDs, they only want certain government issued forms in some locations, then won't tell the people how to get them.

I know a lot of people who won't have an abortion, myself included, but I know very few dems who thing a woman shouldn't have the right to choose, same goes for same sex marriage. michele bachman the teabagger queen has spoken, NO SAME SEX MARRIAGE! You must prey (yes that was intentional) away the gay dontcha know.

I'm sorry but I don't believe a word you say about what teabaggers are trying to impose on the rest of the country. They vote against their own best interest and think they might be rich some day so they want all the breaks for the top 1%. They don't even realize they got a tax cut from Obama and think they will be taxed even more. They are willfully ignorant, I haven't met one yet who isn't and I've met quite a few being from Ohio.

You can keep trying to convince others about teabaggers but you're wasting your time here with me, I'm convinced I'm right about them. :eyes:

blindly support government as a tool to facilitate the transfer of wealth from themselves to their corporate/financier/MIC overlords.

And the next time I hear a reichwinger criticize a religious organization (other than a liberal one like UUs or Reform Jews) will be the first.

Enjoy your stay. It won't be a long one.

8. What are you afraid off?

I have seen that "Enjoy your stay, it won't be long" before. It's typically used by somneone that doesn't like what another has written but can't refute it.

I know what TP people believe because I can sit down and talk with people. I am not afraid of ideas, even if I don't believe them. Why are you afraid?

21. Because I know their arguements and ....
can articulate them only means I am knowledgeable. It says nothing about my personal politics.

On the other hand, your lack of tolerance and inquisitiveness indicates you have no reason to call yourself a liberal.

You are free, free, free - except for one thing. You are not free to band together with others for cooperative endeavors. Because that would destroy freedom if we allowed you to make that choice.
