According to the recent Rachel Maddow Richard Engel documentary, "Day of Destruction Decade of War", millions of dollars are wasted annually on grants given to supposed potential targets that could not, in any conceivable way, actually be considered targets of terror. These include a small-town parade, an Amish popcorn factory, hundreds of nursing homes, mortuaries, and casinos.

I did a Google search and found a July 2006 NYT article by Eric Lipton titled 'Come One, Come All, Join the Terror Target List' presenting the exact same information.

This tells me that, even though this crazy-ass program has been exposed for at least five years, nothing has been done to pare down and cut out the silliest beneficiaries of this prime example of wasteful spending. It would be interesting if review of the information about the recipients of this government money tells of significant campaign donations. However, there's not a lot of specific information available to the public.
I've written to President Obama suggesting that he cut from that program before he cuts a red cent from programs that benefit ordinary Americans.
