My bday was early this year!
I was born Nov. 4, 1964, the day LBJ was elected President.

My husband gave me my bday present Sunday. An original 1964 Democratic Convention book with program in PERFECT condition! He found it at a garage sale!

I haven't had the time to read it, yet, but I did flip through it. There's a large section on JFK that I'm anxious to read, considering the circumstances. The ads are entertaining. Lots of information in it. Of course a huge section on LBJ.

This is better than the Chicago Tribune newspaper that my father saved for me. I'm thinking of looking it up to see what it's worth, but feel weird about it since it was a gift. I don't check on the prices for books, etc. that I get for my bday, but...I'm curious because it's in such great shape. We were both shocked that he found it here in Arizona.

He couldn't wait 'til my bday to give it to me, so now he's freaking out because he'll never be able to top it.

Curious to know if any of you were there. I know there are at least a few DUers that are older than me. :P

Oh...and GO BEARS!!!!

1. Good jewelry (or diamonds) will at least come close to topping it..LOL. I was
a young mom in those days and lived with my repub parents. I was not crazy at all about LBJ and still numbed from the loss of JFK. That is an invaluable gift...Enjoy!!

4. My parents were Democrats....
...but, hated LBJ. They never got over the loss off JFK. I heard about it every single year on my birthday. Such and such many years, "since that *#@A was elected President on the day you were born". I swear I had nothing to do with it. :P When I was 13 he gave me the copy of the Tribune that he had saved for me...and apologized for the front page!

My husband knows better than to buy me jewelry. He won big with the engagement ring, but I'm seriously picky. He's better off just buying me more books.
