I was one of the10% on Bush after 9/11
From the morning in the classroom to his speech that night to the bullshit on the pile with the megaphone. I never approved of Bush as President.
I agreed with the need to go into Afghanistan, but knew he botched it at Tora Bora. After that it was downhill.

1. +1...it smelled bad from Day One
but the megaphone moment was embarassing and repulsive.

It's why I am so dismayed at the prospects of 2012.

5. Me, too. Never trusted him, and thought his speech that night was appalling
The Republicans, I thought then, were guilty of treason for installing such a man at such a time.

in fact, I was against using the military to prosecute a criminal matter. it's all gone downhill from there.

8. Me too, and I doubt the 90%
I think I recall one that also asked who the respondents voted for in 2000 - and something like 2/3rd claimed they voted for Bush. Either they were over-sampling Bush voters, for they were not getting honest answers since the actual number was under 50%.

10. Me too
I was against Afghanistan too - saw it as revenge and not going to do anything to prevent any further attacks. I knew the Rs would use it to justify a war - that's how they roll.

12. Same ...
During the week after 9/11, I told a friend that I HOPED Bush did not go nuts and start a wide ranging military attack. I hoped he would FOCUS on who it was who did this, but not use the National anger as a way to chase "other objectives".

As he shifted focus to Iraq, I knew we were screwed. I debated friends, most of which could not find Iraq, Afghanistan, and Iran on a map. Those with no idea about Shia, Sunni, or Arab.

Osama became Saddam.

And angry Americans said "Sure ... One Arab Islamic Middle Eastern extremist is the same as the next!!"

And then there was the air craft carrier celebration of nothing.

Agreed.
9/11 just makes me angry. I think of that fuckwit with that stupid look on his face sitting in that classroom and I want to punch something.

They stole both elections. They weren't about to take their chances with voters.

16. I was never in either group, I already knew they were criminals from
the S&L days and since nobody stopped them then, why would they stop now? Criminals commit crime and that is what they did in 2000 and 2001. Also 2004.

17. The Nation: November 13, 2000

But who reads that nasty ol' progressive Nation, besides the ProfessionalAngryEmoPony-wantingLeft.

There's an earlier Time or Newsweek cover of that smirking a$$hole as a candidate, but I can't find it. That's the one that raised major red flags for me -- from a PICTURE.

18. he never had anything near 90% support
not in any objective measure that can be attributed to him as a person or as to his performance as president.

much depends on how the poll question is phrased and what questions come before, and so on.

try this:

"given that the country is under attack and there are calls to unify against a common enemy, and president bush himself has declared 'you're either with us or against us', do you stand behind our president in this time of crisis?"

vs.

"given the controversial nature of many of the actions george w. bush has taken since 9/11, and given that the presidential response might have been very different and arguably more effective under a president al gore, do you support the post-9/11 militatistic and civil liberties actions of bush?"

admittedly extreme examples, but pollsters are no without agendas; or, more accurately, they work to serve the interests of clients who usually have biased agendas. even "objectice" media outlets clearly have agendas.

19. Right on! And hear, hear!
I recognized the justification for going into Afghanistan but opposed the actuality of going in under Bushista leadership. And the Bushistas fully lived down to my expectations.
