Halliburton job fair draws 100 applicants to Fort Lupton
The recruiter for Halliburton didn’t sugarcoat it: If you want an entry-level position for the energy company, don’t expect an 8-to-5, 40-hour-a-week job with the ability to see your family very often.

Oil-and-gas companies are one segment of the lagging economy that’s hiring, and Thursday’s Halliburton job fair in Fort Lupton offered more evidence of the energy boom. About 100 applicants — most of whom had already been pre-screened for the positions through online applications — attended two job fair sessions at the Fort Lupton Recreation Center.

Halliburton is adding 150,000 square feet to its Fort Lupton site — the work should be finished by next summer— and the company expects to hire another 150 to 200 positions at the facility in the coming weeks. Most of the jobs are entry-level operator assistant positions on Halliburton’s hydraulic fracturing crews, but recruiting specialist Bobby Endyk said the company has a “broad range of positions we’re looking for right now. … We need engineers, mechanics, guys with electronic backgrounds — a whole slew of things.”

For some reason this story just wrankles. Maybe it's the knowledge that Halliburton turned the events of 9-11 into a bottomless ATM. . .
