I lived through the Bush Administration and survived
It was not easy, but I made it. I know many others did not.

1. I lived through Bush/Cheney and survived ...
... but I have not thrived.

Less freedom, less prosperity, less civility, less democracy ... still here, but this is a different country than before December 12, 2000.

5. Same here.
Still alive, but my job and career are long gone thanks to those SOBs, and my health and general welfare are not far behind. I'm sure that it has taken at least 10 years off of my life due to stress. I can count on my ten fingers the number of nights where I've had a solid night's sleep over the past 4 years.

2. What do you mean by 'made it?'
Do you mean physically made it? Because aside from the deaths in Iraq in Afghanistan, most people did. And even there (and please don't flame me, we're talking about numbers here), the numbers are very small compared with the population as a whole, not to mention the numbers of active military personnel. I would certainly argue that's NOT true when you're talking about Iraqi and Afghan civilians, many thousands of whom died because of the US presence. And they had no say in the matter because they don't get to vote in US elections.

Or are you talking about psychologically making it? Because rolling with the punches and dealing with the opposition being in power come with the territory of living in a democracy. Isn't that what we would tell the Tea Party? Because if I hear one of them saying how hard it is to live under Obama, I would say: 'tough fucking shit, deal with it.'

4. The OP may be referring to his life, unlike those who perished
on 9/11 due to (at least) their malfeasance, and those who fought to "keep us safe".

That's how I took it, anyway.

8. Are we all sure?
We're still suffering the long term consequences, I'm afraid. There's no survival for the frailest among us.
