One of the few country artists to release a personal, thoughtful and eloquent hit about 9/11
that wasn't a jingoistic embarrassment like "We'll put a boot in your ass / it's the American way"

2. Alan Jackson has long been a favorite of mine. I think he is a very caring person, and has done
many songs that show this.

3. A few more classical slanted, quality pieces about 911 - links below
NPR is allowing all of Steve Reich's new piece (not released until next week) - http://www.npr.org/2011/09/11/140144067/first-listen-steve-reich-wtc-9-11

And John Adams has a brilliant work as well - http://www.amazon.com/John-Adams-Transmigration-Souls/dp/B0002JNLNM/ref=sr_1_2?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1315790261&sr=1-2

they are both minimalist pieces - but quite remarkable.

7. I've always liked Steve Earle's "Jerusalem"
Ashes to Ashes, Amerika v6.0, John Walker Blues...brings back memories, but got zero air play, even on NPR.

I never could listen to the ass-kicking country crap a bunch of stations were playing.
