I Cant Believe 10 Years Ago Today I Thought G W B U S H was....

......the greatest President ever elected...man I was 10 feet deep in to the shit-hole of the republican party and buying the whole farm of their spew..

So I will offer up my apologizes to my country for trusting such an idiot man and thank the Union at a new job I started in 2003 and the DU which I joined in 2004 for gracefully showing me the truth.

I feel so much better now that I am awake and have some new political teeth.

44. GWB made a lot of Democrats.
My best friend from high school was a Reaganite, but he moved a LITTLE to the left and the rest of the country kept sliding right. In 2000 he voted for McCain in the primary and then held his nose and voted for Gore in the general. Then Kerry. Then Obama. So he told me.

I applaud you for your change of heart and openness in admitting you made a mistake. It's not very easy to admit them sometimes. I think we've all been there.

6. That's odd. Most Bush zealots became even more zealot-y after 911
Was there something specific that led to the abrupt change of heart?

Oh, and good for you by the way!

8. I was impressed that he discouraged Islamophobia to some extent

But I remember feeling that we did not have a president who was up to the task of rationally responding to 9/11 or, for that matter, having an administration that wasn't up to the job of protecting this country in the first place.

28. One needs only to look at republican ideology-Put forth by their agenda which is fascist corportism
Edited on Mon Sep-12-11 04:31 PM by GreenTea
government for the rich and their corporations - corporations in place of the peoples government - No government money (our taxes) should go tor the people, no government programs or safety nets.

This is true and is republican ideology a cult for the greedy & hateful economics that serve only the wealthy and has NEVER been proven to ever help the 98% of the rest of us.... Republicans just lie about it....but in truth they distort, lie, gut & cut every government program so they become unworkable, rob the Treasury via wars and weapons contracts, tax loop-holes, huge tax cuts and subsidies for the corporations - purposely leaving no money for anything the peoples & small businesses needs - with the republicans never ending greed = Privatization - everything for the rich and their corporations who then control and become our government.

Corporate Fascism!

31. After 911, I too was up for WAR...
meaning Afghanistan and the Taliban, if they didn't turn over Bin Laden. Yup, even tho I hated Bush, am very Progressive, an voted unenthusiastically for Gore - when push came to shove post-911, I was OK with our going in rockets blazing.

I drank some Koolaid too.

41. I was 14 years old and a high school freshmen when 9/11 happened.
Shortly after the attack, I wrote an essay praising Bush's response.

Like I said, I was 14. It took me about ten months before I came to my senses.

42. See, all us from Texas knew he* was a complete half wit before he* was selected.
he* let a massive terrorist attack happen on his* watch. Most people here in Austin expected something bad to happen once he* was in. Why the fuck in gods name would I support a colossal failure*?

he* was a fucking moron* as governor, I never expected for a single minute he* would ever "rise to the occasion" and suddenly have the ability of reason. he* never had it in him* to start with, why think he* would change?

46. 10 years can feel like yesterday, yet is a lifetime in the past
After 9/11 I was definitely no longer a Republican, but not yet ready to call myself a Democrat.

Three years before that I was actually a paid employee of my county GOP organization.

It's good to see former Republicans here!
