A Vision I encountered driving to the Store in my Southern Home Town today
You are looking at approximately 1/5th of the perimeter of this Church's manicured property.

13. They are a church in the south which means they are like part of the Southern Baptist Convention.
Edited on Sun Sep-11-11 01:19 PM by white_wolf
That tells me all I need to know. Take it from someone who went to a school ran by that organization, you'll never find a more bigoted, self-righteous, hypocritical, hateful, group than the Southern Baptist Convention.

19. IIRC, The Southern Baptist Convention took a severe hard turn to the
right, starting in the early 1980s (long after Carter, Clinton and Gore had grown up). While I'm not an expert on SBC history, I believe the hard turn to the right included a purge of any professors of theology at SBC seminaries who expressed even the slightest divergence from the inerrancy of Scripture (in essence, the belief that every word in the Bible was inspired by and came straight from God).

21. They did trust me. My school preached, among other things,
that woman should stay at home and cook and clean, that gays were evil in the eyes of God, they actively endorsed Bush and said anyone who supported Kerry wasn't a Christian, those who were pro-choice were called baby killers, they preached that if you weren't a good christian(baptist) you went to hell. This wasn't a fringe school, they received support from the SBC and had preachers from mainstream SBC churches come preach every week.

48. There are many, many Baptist churches that are NOT members of
the Southern Baptist Convention.

It is not possible to tell from the appearance or location or name if they are.

50. Perhaps the number of flags is in remembrance - one flag for each death
from Sept 11, 2001.

Hard to say from the pics, but it looks like a lot of flags, and that could be the reason.

They may well do something different on Veterans Day and/or Memorial Day.

I don't have much experience with Sony DSLR's. Does it have an aperture priority mode? If so, you could have made some good alternate versions of it.

12. I think it looks nice. They obviously put some effort into getting them equally-spaced,
and it paid off.

There will certainly be some 'bagger-oriented jingoistic nonsense today, but this remembrance (depending on what is said at the service) seems tasteful...

What other country's do that? Are we like them in other ways?

Step back folks, and ask yourselves what it does to a people when they do this to a flag?

34. So are these flags suppose to make you want to run to the church? I wish the church
would spend the time dedicated helping the working poor in this country and leave the flags out of it. I am sorry I get nothing but trying to using 9-11 to recruit for the church. Just think of the money they spend on those flags that could buy food, clothing or help the community in need.
