Biden, Bush, Clinton laud courage of Flight 93 passengers, crew

Vice President Joe Biden said the 40 passengers and crew of Flight 93 gave their lives for their country when they overcame four hijackers to crash the plane into a Pennsylvania field.

He says that while nothing can fill the void left in the hearts of their family members and friends, their actions will always be recalled gratefully, for defining their country and sacrificing their lives so that others could live.

(snip)
He says they acted as citizen patriots have done since Capt. John Parker said in April 1775 that if war is what they want, "then let it begin here."

(snip)
Clinton noted that the passengers who overcame the four hijackers were not soldiers, but citizens, who with almost no time acted and gave the U.S. a gift: They saved the capital from attack.

2. I suppose when you're an Islamic fundie
they would be considered "collateral damage" in your quest to do damage to your enemy.

4. What are you really trying to say here?
I only ask because your word choice is interesting. 'Scandalous' and 'were sacrificed' make me think you are subtly insinuating some sort of grand conspiracy.

5. The Flight 93 memorial ceremony was really, really nice. You can watch it on C-span tonight
The speeches were wonderful (even Dubya's!) -- President Clinton was particularly fabulous -- and Robert Pinsky read poetry, and Sarah McLachlan sang beautifully.

I'm really glad I sat down and watched the ceremony. C-span is supposed to rebroadcast it tonight, either at 7 or 8 p.m.

6. Also, thought it was interesting that CNN didn't cover it, but MSNBC did.
CNN had yet another discussion show about the economy; I'm surprised they didn't cover this memorial ceremony. It was a bad decision, in my opinion. You can always have another discussion about the economy; the Flight 93 memorial is only dedicated once.
