Dick Cheney Did Not Shed a Single Tear on 9/11
http://www.nationaljournal.com/dailyfray/dick-cheney-did-not-shed-a-single-tear-on-9-11-20110909

As the 10-year anniversary of 9/11 looms, many of us are remembering the intense emotions we felt on that day. The American Enterprise Institute hosted a talk with former Vice President Dick Cheney -- who's been promoting his controversial memoirs -- moderator Stephen Hayes talked about how President Bush nearly cried in public, Condoleezza Rice burst into tears at home, and Hayes himself "broke down crying." Did Cheney have his own tearful moment? No.

"Not really," Cheney said. The audience laughed. "You understand people will find that peculiar," Hayes said. Cheney says he was focused at the task at hand, like "what the targets might be and how we might go after him." Cheney says he'd been trained in "continuity of government" -- you know, like in case the president is shot -- so he was prepared.

(video at the link)

Many might find that sociopathic, let alone peculiar.

He has no pulse, and no tears.

4. People do handle things differently but his response seemed very cold
And a little demented. I understand wanting to focus on the job at hand but everyone I know, even the strongest of men, felt for all the loss of life on that day. No one expected him, or anyone in charge, to fall to pieces but at least have a twinge of sympathy.

5. Neither did I
there are plenty of reasons to find Cheney loathesome and despicable but this isn't really one of them.

7. I became very depressed later on that evening, but I didn't cry
Lots of other people didn't cry too, including plenty who post here, I imagine. Doesn't sound like much of a story.

8. I didn't cry that day, but once I started I couldn't stop
Just thinking about that day and the following days with people looking for their loved ones and the 300 firefighters who ran up the towers to their deaths, and seeing the towers fall would make me cry. I couldn't even say the words 9/11. This morning I saw footage of the second tower falling and I started crying. I'm getting choked up right now.
