TPM finds temp site....apparently hacked by Anonymous....
after posting the photos of 5 of them.

From temp TPM

"By Ryan J. Reilly 8:53 PM

Hackers launched a denial of service (DDOS) attack on TPM on Friday, knocking the site off-line. TPM had posted mugshots of individuals the FBI said are connected to the ‘hactivist’ group Anonymous earlier in the day.

While there was no direct evidence that tied Anonymous to the attack, the group has launched similar attacks against media websites and law enforcement agencies in the past.

The photos were received from federal officials on Thursday evening and posted in a slideshow and accompanying story on talkingpointsmemo.com on Friday morning. The website first went down around 4:43PM eastern time, but was back up at 5:19PM. By 5:23PM it was back down, and at time of writing has remained down since."

More from Huffington Post:

"The popular politics and news website Talking Points Memo crashed tonight after experiencing an apparent distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attack.

The shutdown came after the site published the mugshots of 14 alleged members of Anonymous, a loose-knit group of online hacker activists, who became well-known after launching online attacks on parties who opposed WikiLeaks, including MasterCard and PayPal.

As of 5 p.m. ET this evening, Talking Points Memo's website was unavailable.

In a tweet, Josh Marshall, editor and publisher of Talking Points Memo, confirmed the site had undergone a DDOS attack. "We have no direct proof of who is behind it," he wrote, however, "Given story we published today, a fairly logical inference can b drawn." He added they are working to restore access.

Although the site is still down, the potential cause for the attack -- the slideshow that reveals the faces of alleged Anonymous members -- is still accessible."

I don't see the page though I followed the link. I do see the TPM page at Tumbler above.

2. LOL! I'm sorry, but any site "brilliant" enough to post mugshots of Anonymous
members totally deserves exactly what it gets - Denial Of Service.

Seriously, what were they thinking?

Duh.

3. They "deserve" to be attacked?
For making public information public?

So much for freedom of the press.

5. Well, yeah, they deserved it, but not for making information public.
For the way they made it public. Posting mugshots of elite hackers on the internet.

Brilliant.

4. Let's see.. TPM itself has never run tons of revelations from and about wikileaks.
to pull in readers, right?

Interesting that they would go after these guys pictures with an FOIA. I wonder how many FOIA's they pursued of any pictures there might be surrounding any of the actual crimes described by wikileaks.
