Andy Card: "I was really glad the president stayed in the classroom and did what he did"
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-14858119

"And believe it or not, my first thought was UBL, Osama Bin Laden. And I knew that I had to tell the president.
--WOW you thought he might need to know? Really UBL? - why you guys had done NOTHING about him the entire time you been in office.
Gee  maybe I left hairdryer on the morning newspaper.... FOR 8 MONTHS

"You know, that is one of the difficult tasks that a chief of staff has - does the president need to know? This one was easy to answer. Yes the president needed to know.
-- All that experience getting some cheeseburgers really paid off didn't it?

"I'm sure there were lots of questions but he didn't scare anybody. When he walked into that room, the first thing he said was: 'Get the FBI director on the phone'. And we could say: "Here he is sir'. And then I tried to be cool, calm and collected. And meeting his needs rather than responding emotionally to the challenge of the day."
--W managed somehow to be behind the curve while in the midst of being behing the curve. That guy can fail at anything.

Andy Card says President Bush met his responsibilities as commander-in-chief from Air Force One
--We at least want to meet the bare minimum right Andy?

1. I read the look on Bush's face as "Oh my God, are we going to caught for doing this"?
Hey, just my take on it!

Not in a "this is bigger than they are letting on" way but in a "Oh shit this guy has NO IDEA what he is doing" way.
Even less than I knew that he didn't know from the first time I saw him on TV.

Negligence and incompetence.

3. "did what he did"? That would be nothing. He's glad he did nothing.

12. :-)
:hi:

From "Ron Suskind's as-told-to account of former Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill's stormy tenure, The Price of Loyalty, reports Billmon:

"Go get me Andy Card," Bush said to one of the Secret Service agents. Card, the designee as chief of staff, entered from an adjoining room . . . Bush looked impatiently at Card, hard-eyed. "You're the chief of staff. You think you're up to getting us some cheeseburgers?"

Card nodded. No one laughed. He all but raced out of the room.

11. Watch this video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rj6NODKktM4&feature=related

Notice upon hearing the news the US is "under attack", Bush looks straight ahead. There is no expression of surprise or shock. He doesn't even turn and study the messenger's face for veracity, as you instinctively would when learning something of such great importance. We are asked to believe that a guy who has never been known for quick thinking or decorum, instantly went icy-calm to "avoid alarming the children". Also, why did Card immediately turn and stride off? You'd think he'd hang around for a second to see if the president had any questions or instructions. I guess he just wanted to get out of Bush's alibi shot. :wtf:

13.  Took another look at it. He does recognize that something expected has happened.

He peers into the distance a moment, looks down and inside, purses his lips, and then nods.

He doesn't feel it very deeply. But, there is a look of "I'm in trouble."
