Half-time for hurricane season
FORT MYERS -
When you look at the six month hurricane season on the calendar, the halfway point between June 1 and November 30 is about September 1.

But when you look at the storm numbers for each individual season, you find that the statistical half-way point is actually tomorrow, September 10.

When you try to fit the 2011 hurricane season into that statistical mold, you end up with a very scary thought.

We've already had 14 named storms thus far. Another 14 would give us 28 for the year…and would tie the record of 28 storms that we tracked in 2005.
