Barton skips Obama speech
note: my Representative

http://www.star-telegram.com/2011/09/08/3348533/barton-skips-obama-speech.html

U.S. Rep. Joe Barton skipped Thursday night's presidential address to a joint session of Congress because he felt like President Barack Obama was playing politics with the speech, according to the Arlington Republican's staff.

Barton spokesman Sean Brown said the congressman "felt like the president was using this joint session as a political prop instead of a place to seriously discuss policy so he decided to attend an event with constituents back in the district that had been set up prior to the scheduling of the speech."

Several other Republican members of Congress also attended other events and avoided the Capitol Thursday night, but the other three Republicans representing Tarrant County in the U.S. House attended the president's jobs speech.

Reps. Kay Granger, Michael Burgess and Kenny Marchant attended, as did the U.S. Texas GOP Senators Kay Bailey Hutchison and John Cornyn.

2. And he decided that without even hearing the speech?
Whatever happened to respecting the office (at the very least) if not the man in it? I seem to remember that being a Very Big Thing, particularly for Texas Republicans from about, oh 2001 to 2008. Doesn't Rep. Barton know we're at war, and by dissing the President, he's offering aid and comfort to America's enemies?

They must have had meetings with lobbyists and fund-raisers to attend

Barton probably had some corp that dumped tons of sludge into drinking water through negligence to apologize to

5. And Michele Bachmann was not at the speech either.
She listened to the speech on the radio in her car stuck in traffic.

8. I can't stand this jackass.
Unfortunately he is my rep. His office is down the street and around the corner.....literally. I damn sure didn't vote for him either.
