1. Nice leavings.
I hate to see them close, but I'm glad to see Sarah's staying behind.

5. what's up with Sarah's behind?
I walked into our local downtown Borders. Funny, every time I was there, it was busy. Closer to holidays, VERY busy. And yet they went under.
Anyway, Sarah's book was not a big seller in Chicago, either. Piles on the discount table. I should have taken a photo of that.

in the 5th district which is represented by none other than

11. I would say that at least 10 percent of the books left at the Borders
near us were republican "vanity" books...

I went last Sunday.

The city here is pretty red although we were able to turn one of the six ward to president Obama in 08.

Out of those 10%, I would say more than half wwere Palin related.

14. The good news: People won't take garbage, even if you give it to them for free
The bad news: These volumes of Sarah's latest valentine to herself have already been bought by the store, and her publisher is probably smart enough not to include a buy-back provision.

16. I was at a Border's last night (it's SO sad)...
... but my daughter and I did laugh at all of Sarah's books left on the shelves. In fact, I went to look at your profile to see where you lived and to see whether we had been at the same store, because there were just as many of her books at our Borders as at yours.

22. You know those books are going to end up in a bargain book dispaly at Wal-Mart
or Costco, don't ya?

God, it is wonderful to see Bush's book sitting there under a 90% off sign.
Strangely, it is selling for 7.00, on up on Amazon.

26. My daughter has worked at Borders for years. Her last day is
this Sunday. The pictures you posted are about the same as the one's she has shared. I will have to ask her how many Palin books are left.

To her, the closing is somewhat sad. Although she was not real happy working there as of late. She does have a few job options lined up, hopefully she can get one of them.

31. good luck to your daughter
I asked the woman at the register last night what comes next (thinking that there might be some behind-the-scenes winding down that could keep them employed for a little while). Nope. Eleven thousand people will be unemployed at the end of Sunday. It really is so awful and so sad. I'm glad your daughter has some job possibilities lined up and I hope they work out soon!

33. The 99 cent store here in my town is selling Jerome Corsi's books
Both "Where's the Birth Certificate?: The Case that Barack Obama is not Eligible to be President" and "The Obama Nation: Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality" - just 99 cents. They are still sitting there tho... no one wants to waste a good dollar!

I *knew* I should have snagged a pic!!

34. A lot of that crap shows up in Big Lots and 99 Cents stores
Even going back to the 90s with Limpballs' two "masterpieces."

I went into one of the Borders here in the San Fernando Valley a few weeks ago and could barely stand to be in there for more than two minutes, tops. It was so fucking depressing to me, especially since our local Barnes & Noble closed, thanks to the greedy prick landlord who decided a CVS would be a better tenant, even though a Ralph's with pharmacy is at the other end of the parking lot.

The loss of book and record stores makes me weep. Having spent so much of my life in them, I really can't bear the fact that they'e going away in droves. Just makes more room for reality tv as the national pastime, I suppose...
