A Homewood woman died Thursday after apparently injecting heated beef fat into her face at her south suburban home.

Janet Hardt, 63, was pronounced dead at 6:25 p.m. at Advocate South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

A source said shortly before Hardt died she injected heated beef fat into her face around her mouth and chin, which she had done before on several occasions.

IF this really happened, it has nothing to do w. getting rid of wrinkles but it could potentially have something to do with onset of dementia causing the person to behave irrationally...which reminds me that it's very nice for those of you who don't have dementia in the family to talk about accepting aging gracefully

I would like to think that the slow disintegration of my once-youthful body does not and will not continue to bother me. But it does. That is something each of us must grapple with as we age. How much we care; how much time and effort we are willing to put into disguising the effects of aging.

But--if my mind were to start to erode in a major way, I don't think I'd want to live. I've discussed this with my husband, who feels the same way (about himself) and my daughter, who understands.

If I remember correctly the collegen used in injections for wrinkles is made from cow collegen that has been purified in some way.

I think people can also have their own fat injected in small quantities for the same purpose.

But these things are done by trained doctors with sterile needles in their offices.
