This is definitely spooky
The chilling chalk drawing of planes, the Twin Towers and a traumatised girl that has been hanging on a Scottish office wall since the 1980s

Willie Gardner died on November 27 last year at the age of 78, making it impossible to know exactly what inspired him. His artwork shows the falling locks of the child's hair spiralling downwards, which looks like fire and smoke billowing into the sky from one of the towers. Some are seeing it as a terrifying premonition of the 9/11 attacks.

1. ugly
I'd have gotten rid of this piece of "art" a long time ago.

5. Doesn't seem to be much of a premonition
I'm not sure if "postmonition" is a word, but it certainly applies in this case.

And yes, it's hideous too.

7. yes and considering the source
the Daily Mail -- lots of other stories there that I'd never read. Who cares about Fergie and Prince Andrew? :puke:

8. I like the Daily Mail. There are some interesting stories there.
But I pass over the stories about any of the royals. They don't interest me either.

15. Think you're confused
it was created in the 1980s. How could it be "post" anything that had to do with 9/11?

16. Nope, not confused at all
I was referring to the fact that it was only thought to be a premonition of something after-the-fact, such as interpreting the girl's hair to be smoke, when it was likely never thought to be smoke until now.

18. Ok, now I get you
you don't doubt the date of creation, just the timing of the interpretation, right?

Seems a bit of an oversight, wasn't it prophetic whilst the artist was alive?

4. From a pre-9/11 perspective, not only is there nothing scary about this drawing, it's typical
of children to think about what life is like as a grown-up, working in big buildings, flying places, etc. That's all I see, I see nothing premonitory about this drawing. YMMV.

10. Hakeem Olajuwon and Ralph Sampson were called the Twin Towers.
And they flew in airplanes a lot.

Eerie. Way, way eerie.

What did they know, and when did they know it?

It's the IEC tower in Haifa, Israel. It is the tallest office building in Haifa, and houses the Israeli Electric Company.

27. It's maybe a thought that has occurred to several people...
Edited on Fri Sep-09-11 04:35 PM by Quantess
I visited NYC with friends in 2000, and while we were in the WTC, one of my friends actually said "wouldn't it be weird if a plane crashed into this building", or something really close to that.

Edit to add: he was my boyfriend for 6 months, and he also had some other really interesting intuitions. Occasionally, he seemed overwhelmed by something for no apparent reason, and then he'd tell me what he was thinking about. He is extremely intelligent, but he drank a lot, so unfortunately it's really hard to tell whether there was any substance to what he was talking about.

28. I dont see it.. its just drawing of a girl and the towers and airplanes.
you can imagine hundreds of meanings from this. If the planes were crashing into the towers then I would be interested.
