2. It's a teabagger (see emblem on the hat). I think the point is that
right after 9/11 the country was united and now we're not.

3. Visual metaphor for something once united being not just divided, but unable to come together at all

And then a somewhat subtle jab with the hat indicating the tea party is responsible.

9. It kind of came off as a jab against the obese to me at first.
So that was likely poisoning my perception of it. I got the tea partier part but the rest was like, what did he gain weight and all tea partiers are lazy and thus fat? Bit confusing to me, but I'm a tad sensitive about that.

4. Hmmm....pretty good visual for my sermon tomorrow.
I suspect I'm not the only minister wishing he or she didn't have to preach on the tenth anniversary. Why couldn't this have fallen on a Wednesday? Not a great attitude I admit, but brutally honest.

5. Then be honest about that with them
I suspect a lot of people have mixed feelings about this. But it is an excellent time to remind folks of how unified we once were, and how lies and trading our honor and principles for the illusion of security and revenge wasn't such a good thing for our souls.

6. Have you been looking over my shoulder while I've been writing?
I'm absolutely being honest. I suspect no one will get up and walk out, but I might leave a few of them squirming in their seats. Comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable. *grin*

11. Yes, let's not forget that there is unity in a mob mentality too.
Edited on Fri Sep-09-11 09:43 AM by MilesColtrane
...the kind of fear-based mob mentality that passes dreck like the Patriot Act.
