coverage and commentary - just like old times I can count on Keith. I am so grateful and glad you are still on the air. I never could have survived the darkness of the Bush years without your reasonable, sane, albeit humorous and witty coverage of the news.

:fistbump: :patriot:

3. holy keynesian lalaland..
He's good on the social issues but he & Spitzer are off in 1965 land with the deficit talk. Every single person in this stupid country is under this hypnotic spell that Keynes & Friedman are the only two systems ever invented for macro capitalism. They both suck because they both only work when the country is stinking rich. We ain't. We're broke. We don't have to be, we can get our wealth back if we want to but its gonna be really really messy. Not a damn thing is ever going to change for the better until we do campaign finance reform, open up the Fed books, break up the banks & put Glass-Steigel in the constitution h then when that's all done we can do trade reform the right way & tort reform. Then we will have good jobs with good pay.

Chances are if you have stomach cancer you'll have a stomachache too. If you treat the stomachache by taking an antacid it doesn't do much to get rid of the cancer.. funny how that works.

4. Would like to point out to you, zippy, that we are still a rich nation.
However, the majority of the wealth is held by a handful of people who aren't interested in the welfare of the nation at all any more and they treat the election process like a PR/product launch campaign. Yeah, it's going to be messy alright but it starts by getting people who truly care about the good of all into offices across the land and getting the halls of congress freed of these greedy bastards who, if they were not millionaires when they ran, have enriched themselves while they have held office.

5. "we're broke" is a myth
Edited on Fri Sep-09-11 05:38 AM by quaker bill
pushed by the wealthy few so that we don't start taxing them. We are still the world's largest economy. The Chinese are catching up and will probably pass us soon on GDP, but remember that there are 8 times more people there, so on the large most people there are pretty poor.

It is not that "we're broke" it is that what we have is very poorly distributed. So for most of us, it seems like "we're broke". It would not even take all that much of a shift for it to seem like "we're rich". The wealthy would just have to get very wealthy a bit slower, done really right they would have to build businesses and hire people to do it, that is all.

Back in the day, when it seemed like "we're rich", the way rich people got rich was building business emprires that made things, and hired lots of people to do it. The way they have arranged the tax code now, this approach is for chumps. It is now and has been far easier to get very rich fast without working for the last 30 years if you have the money to speculate in financial instruments. This is what cutting the "captial gains" tax rate has done for us. Of course, republicans now want to reduce this rate to zero, so that the major source of income for the rich is completely untaxed.

6. Explain how your solution isn't related what John Maynard Keynes
..intervention... (agreeing that campaign finance reform would more likely ASSURE this)

Government's role would more likely be able to enable more correctly tax breaks in order to stimulate the economy, and government spending cuts and tax hikes in good times, in order to curb inflation.

12. I'm grateful he is still on -- but for me too much film on RW and Obama ...
This idea that you need pics to accompany every subject is inane --

Just spill the story --

And when I see pics of Obama now, I just turn it off --
