Results on what Senator Reid had the Senate vote on after Obama's speech

The Senate began a roll call vote on the motion to proceed to S.J.Res.25, a joint resolution relating to the disapproval of the President’s exercise of authority to increase the debt limit (McConnell and others);
Not Agreed to: 45-52

p.s. I'm sure that Reid knew it would not pass, but it sure did mess up Sen. Vitter's party plans to stay home and watch the football game! LOL

5. Yeah, I think the Repubs screwed themselves, and Obama won big time.
If Obama had given the speech on Wednesday, the republicans would have been watching the debate and the democrats the speech. Tonight I'm sure Obama had a huge percentage of Republicans watching the speech that wouldn't have the day before. Also, since the speech was today on Thursday the speech has knocked all talk of the GOP debate out of the news cycle :)
