Republicans whine--Obama is making their job harder..
Edited on Thu Sep-08-11 09:57 PM by one_voice
Supercommittee: You made it harder

President Barack Obama’s request Thursday night that the deficit-cutting supercommittee come up with a way to pay for his $450 billion job-creation bill is “discouraging” and makes its task “nearly impossible,” GOP panel members said.

“It’s a little discouraging that he’s going to at some point give us additional responsibilities when we’re struggling to meet the ones we already have,” freshman Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio) told POLITICO after Obama’s address to a joint session of Congress.

Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas), the supercommittee co-chairman, accused Obama of essentially asking the panel “to pay for yet another round of stimulus.”

However, Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) appeared open to tackling more deficit reduction in the name of job creation, saying his goal for the committee was in the ballpark of $3 billion.

2. OK Portman why don't you threaten to quit like your buddy Kyl?
Obviously Republicans are not up to the task of actually governing.

3. Translation:
"We thought it would be a quick slashing of Social Security and Medicare and we'd be done, but noooo, now we'll have to cut from our campaign donors, its not fair!"

4. Oh look, Ohio's sucko senator decides to speak.
Seriously Rob, I liked you better when you were an anonymous behind-the-schemes wonk. Go back to being that and leave the adult work to Sherrod Brown, someone who knows what he's doing.

7. Mooooom! Governing is HAAARD
I just wanna eat ice cream!

Hey Portman, why don't you just pull yourself up by your bootstraps and get through the tough times, ya jackwagon! If the job is too difficult for you to do, quit! We want people who aren't afraid to do the hard things for America.

8. People have always called congressmen dumb, lazy etc. I thought surely they couldn't all be that bad
Now that there is a total lack of decorum they have exposed themselves for how bad they really are.

16. Yeah, he wouldn't know "hard" if it kicked him in the teeth.
Poor baby. I'd love for that scum-sucking SOB to have to walk for a few years in my shoes.

15. Except the president made it clear
that he would make it easier for them by presenting his plan in the form of an actual bill, normally the responsibility of the House. This was clearly a slam on their lack of effort--that fixing things was obviously beyond their capabilities. I'm surprised that, instead of claiming that President Obama is making their jobs harder, they're not whining that he's imposing on their territory. I guess it was too subtle a slam.
