Pass This Jobs Bill Now!
That was the call to action President Obama stated to Congress during his AMERICAN JOBS ACT presentation before the Joint Session of Congress tonight. The President was tough, feisty, and determined in the manner in which he presented his case.

The major focus of his Jobs Plan is “growing the economy to create jobs” utilizing ideas that were promoted by Democrats AND Republicans BEFORE he was elected President. Here are a few of the President’s American Jobs Act measures: tax incentives for small businesses that hire and raise employee salaries; cutting payroll taxes in half for every American and for every small business; rehire teachers, first responders and construction workers; tax credit for companies that hire anyone who has been out of work for more than 6 months; extending unemployment insurance for another year; incentives for technology-based companies to start, stay and hire here rather than abroad; beef up trade agreements to bring jobs home; rebuilding decaying roads, bridges, highways, dams; repairing public schools that are falling apart; speeding up the patent process; expanding the accessibility of 4% low interest mortgage rates for homeowners; cutting red tape for start-up companies; insuring that the wealthiest Americans and biggest corporations pay their fair share; reforming corporate tax codes to eliminate loopholes and deductions for corporations that “enjoy tax rates that nobody else gets”.

The President made it clear that he WILL NOT let the economic crises “be used as an excuse” to wipe out economic security and protections for American people such as taking away the collective bargaining rights of American workers in order to compete in a global economy.

He, also reminded (Tea Partied) Republican Congressional members that even though they signed a pledge to “NOT raise taxes for as long as they live”, they should rise above partisan interests because the next election is 14 months away, but the American people “need help now” and “don’t have the luxury of waiting 14 months” for them to do the job the American people hired them to do now.

It is hard to believe that ANY Congressional member could object to a plan that will help the American people get jobs and rebuild our nation, but some Tea Partied Republican Congressional members have, already, begun to THROW US UNDER THE BUS in order to maintain their blind ambition to make Obama a “one term President”.

The ONLY branch of government that has the Constitutional authority to transform the American Jobs Act into law is Congress. Let them know that WE are as serious about jobs as President Obama. Contact Congressional representatives at www.congress.gov www.senate.gov and www.house.gov

Tell them to “Pass the Jobs Bill now!”

2. So how can anyone be against this bill? Although we do want to know
what is in the bill with respect to altering medicare and medicaid. The Democrats are going to want clarification on that point.
