Power outages reported in southern California, Arizona, Mexico
Parts of 3 different states!

From CNN:
(CNN) -- Authorities were investigating a power blackout in parts of southern California, Arizona and Mexico on Thursday that left more than 1 million customers without power and caused widespread traffic jams.

San Diego Gas & Electric said all of its 1.4 million customers were without power. The problem appeared to have originated in Arizona, the utility said.

"This caused our line from AZ and from the north of our region to both trip off," the utility posted on its Twitter account.

"Think of the system as linked by springs, when one part goes out the rest are affected," another Twitter post from the utility said.

Much more at the link!

2. Wow! I'd only heard San Diego -- and that was more than "only". The
SD Power Co said ALL of their customers are w/out until maybe tomorrow!

The nuke power plants are fine, though. Shut down, no safety concerns (EXCEPT THAT IT'S NUCLEAR WASTE YOU DUMBFUCKS!!).

4. Yeah, I decided to start another thread about it because it appears to be larger than first thought.
My thoughts are with all those bearing the heat in the outage-affected areas, as well as those who have medical conditions which require refrigeration, air conditioning or electricity in order to be well.

3. Rethug sabotage? They didn't want folks to watch the president tonight.
And make them look like idiots. :sarcasm:

5. Then why would they point out how much work the infrastructure needs?
We have an antique power grid and until that is replaced by an upgrade, the next wave of industry is just not going to get started.

This had to be a plot by leftwing hackers, I tell ya! After all, the baggers will be telling ya in a couple of days when they fucking think of it.

7. There was a small outage in Florida
in a small town near me. Probably just a coincidence and it has been fixed.
