2. I know that we shouldn't be worried, but...
I am. Really worried. I don't want anyone else to die. And I live on Long Island, so I'm worried for myself, although not as much for people in NYC or D.C., or anybody flying.

I'm scared. Simple as that.

16. Please explain why a Democratic Administration would step on it's President's message...
...if it wasn't true and serious?

6. Oh good grief.
That wasn't what I took away from that. It was a head's up. Pay attention.

If anyone out there doesn't believe there are people out there who would like nothing better than to take out a couple of city blocks on the anniversary of 9/11 there's not much I can say.

This is the world we are living in . This is the world that Europeans have been dealing with for a while lot longer than us. Just pay attention. It's what is already all over the subways in NYC - "If you see something, say something."

9. Agreed
Wasn't there some evidence found in bin Laden's compound that pointed to another attack planned to coincide with the anniversary of 9/11?
I think that with bin Laden's death, we need to be even more aware of possible threats.

19. What major terror attack has happened since 9/11? I mean losing over 20 people.
And how many orange damn alerts did you worry through?

Jesus, crying wolf helps no one.

25. I'm not worrying through anything.
But I am not the least bit surprised that there would be a terror alert this weekend. I don't see this as a crying wolf, just as a heads up and maybe pay a bit more attention. That's not hard to do.

7. Using fear is a way to really
get deep down inside of people. Think of it as a tactic to manipulate a response.

There are some real, tangible things we can fear in everyday life and, since there are so many economic ones that many of us find ourselves, let's have a distraction. When your financial security issues and stability are threatened, it's time to be more selective about what to pay attention to. Financial terrorists abound!

Sure, you are homeless and on the streets, but those darn terrorists are being held at bay. Being indigent can be a daily dose of its own kind of terror.

However, any stimuli can become less effective over time. The bogey men then throw at us are on par with legendary fold demons for some.

It's not the media, the info came from he administration, and no, it's not the same as with the previous administration.

10. Right
Bush used "terra, terra, terra" to make people scared stiff. This administration has not done that - at all - which makes me a bit more concerned about this possible threat.

11. but... but... but...
It's Nine Eleven Eleven!

Fuck this. I'm gonna BBQ on Sunday. I'm sick of "NEVER FORGET". I'm sick of seeing that same GOD DAMNED video clip over and over of the planes hitting the towers. Give me a year or two where I can *attempt* to forget about this for once, then maybe we can talk about this whole "Never Forget" slogan/meme/mantra.
(Good luck there - as if I *could* forget....)

Sorry. I'm having some pre-9/11 rage.

12. I doubt that 9/11 symbolizes anything to any terrorist
Think about it - they know we're a bunch of scared ninnies. We just know they're gonna attack us on 9/11. So we sit here trembling with fear while they go ahead and plan for whenever and if they attack us again. Why would they do it when we're all expecting it?

17. Similar tactics are used in third nations to control the populace.
The concept of a (mythological) "general threat" is nothing new.
