Now how do you get those fuckers to pass your jobs bill?

I'm impressed - you really are serious and this is great.

5. I hope he wins back the public tonight
It is the people who will have to get this bill passed by taking to the streets and stopping the corporate stooges in the RETHUG party.

This is a great speech!

30. CaliforniaPeggy, I'm surprised that you support Obama on this plan.
Edited on Fri Sep-09-11 03:46 AM by JDPriestly
This is the Chamber of Commerce plan spruced up to ruin Social Security for our lifetimes.

Check out Dragonfli's post. He posted the Chamber's plan as summarized by a business journal. Point for point it is nearly identical to Obama's.

This is an awful plan. It embarrasses me that so many DUers have fallen for this.

Especially you because you normally think independently and critically.

Obama has a mesmerizing voice and speaking style. That is the only explanation for his ability to hoodwink so many, many people with his speeches.
A payroll tax holiday indeed. That is intended for one purpose only: to bankrupt Social Security.

And we need tariffs, not trade agreements. If we collected tariffs, we would be able to give other countries real foreign aid. That would be better than trade agreements that enslave not just millions of Americans to low ages or no wages but also millions in underdeveloped countries to an international system of exploitation.

And less regulation. What does that mean? More environmental damage? More worker injuries? Do you remember Love Canal, Three-Mile Island, the BP spill. We need more regulations, not fewer.

What a scam that speech was. Just beneath the dignity of our good Democrats in Congress to have clapped for it.

Was Joe Biden gritting his teeth at moments? I'm going to try watching the speech without sound and focus on his expressions.

In the Finnish Winter War the Soviet Union invaded Finland and suffered casualty rates as high as 10:1.

The Soviets won and gained their concessions.

If they don't move, he will run on that. In fact he will start running on it now, and the only way they can get him to stop is to pass the bill. It is September, and as we all know, "you roll out new plans in September".

including more steps toward phasing out Social Security and Medicare.

People need to wake the hell up and look at the policies instead of the pretty words. This is more bipartisan corporate assault on the poor, elderly, and disabled. Millions are left with no one to defend them.

Tax breaks will be a go.
Infrastructure will be cut to near nothing.
Tax loopholes will stay open.
Unemployment will be extended upon passing of Bridge to Work

Both sides will declare a victory.
