Rick Perry would have been one of the ones persecuting Galileo!
The candidate who is the most anti-science actually dares to compare himself to the father of modern science?

Perry would have put Galileo to death to thunderous applause.

The people who harassed, persecuted, and eventually convicted him of “heresy” were exactly Rick Perry’s type: religious fanatics, acting out of fear, hatred, and blind ignorance.

3. If he works to establish his Dominionist theocracy and Levitical law
Another Inquisition should not be far behind. Ugly indeed, Ricky's ideology! I find myself wondering how my Texas Catholic relatives feel about his supporters, John Hagee who says the Catholic Church is the Great Whore of Babylon and Peter Wagner who supports destroying all Catholic statues. I'd ask said relatives, but they're so busy sending out anti-Obama e-mails everything else fades from their consciousness.

6. and besides, actual historians have found the Galileo trial much more interesting
than the perpetually-regurgitated 18th/19th-century stereotype posted there on LGF

7. "Perry would have put Galileo to death to thunderous applause."
Yes, I think you're right.

The thunderous applause that we heard last night was one of the most amazing moments in any political campaign that I've ever heard. It was shocking. It left me speechless. I'm surprised it hasn't resonated more than it has. It reminded me of the old westerns where the townspeople gathered for a hanging, languished and delighted over the sights and sounds of the gallows being constructed, and looked forward to it like kids look forward to Christmas.
