ms blackburn never once complained about bu$h*s lack of jobs creation....not once. a true partisan thru and thru

in marsha's world, politics trumps law....that's what it's come to

***************

Two weeks after federal agents raided his Tennessee factories and corporate office, Gibson Guitar CEO Henry Juszkiewicz will get an up-close view of the president’s jobs speech tonight from the Speaker of the House’s box in Congress.

A special guest of Republican U.S. Rep. Marsha Blackburn, Juszkiewicz also is a newly minted symbol of what Republicans say is wrong with Obama’s economic policies.

“Gibson Guitar is at the heart of this jobs debate, and is an example of exactly why President Obama has it wrong when it comes to getting our economy back on track,” Blackburn said.

“Maybe if the president spent more time finding real solutions to empowering small-business owners and less time hindering businesses like Gibson, we’d see more new jobs being created.”

3. The right will tell you they had guns a blazin'
and Obama on the phone as they swept in and seized wood. The head of Gibson is a right-wing tool. Feds don't do small. I think this has to do with organized crime. It's no secret that illegal logging goes on worldwide.

8. This has to do with whether fingerboards are "finished products"
And it's bullshit. Leave the damn guitars alone.

I don't care if the CEO is a wingnut, a tool, or a freakin' vampire. Leave the Les Pauls the f**k alone.

15. See post 14. In addition to crappy new models their quality control has gone down the crapper.

I am afraid to even pick up new Gibsons now for fear of getting a splinter.

16. There are 2 issues here.
One is Indian content laws that forbid anything but finished product from being exported. The other is whether the wood is 'certified' meaning, I believe, not clear cut (stolen) from protected lands by organized crime figures. I just don't think the Feds would seize this wood to protect Indian law.

4. Gibson used to be ranked as one of the best places in America to work.
Of course, that's when it was a union company in Michigan. Now it regularly shows up near the bottom. Huh.

12. Lacey Act is a rather vague statute.
Depends on what other countries say. Anybody who deals/works with rosewood or ebony is liable to run afoul of it.

13. vague???
The Lacey Act provides that it is unlawful for any person to import, export, transport, sell, receive, acquire, or purchase any fish or wildlife or plant taken, possessed, transported, or sold in violation of any law, treaty, or regulation of the United States or in violation of any Indian tribal law whether in interstate or foreign commerce. Violation of this federal act can result in civil penalties up to $10,000 per each violation or maximum criminal sanctions of $20,000 in fines and/or up to five years imprisonment. All plants or animals taken in violation of the Act are subject to forfeiture as well as all vessels, vehicles, aircraft, and other equipment used to aid in the importing, exporting, transporting, selling, receiving, acquiring, or purchasing of fish or wildlife or plants in a criminal violation of this chapter for which a felony conviction is obtained where the owner should have known of the illegal transgression.
