FBI agents searching Solyndra in Fremont

(09-08) 08:24 PDT FREMONT -- FBI agents are serving search warrants this morning at Solyndra, the Fremont solar company that abruptly closed last week, an agency official said.

The search is part of a joint investigation involving the FBI and the Department of Energy's Office of Inspector General, said FBI spokeswoman Julianne Sohn, who declined to elaborate.

Solyndra closed its doors on Aug. 31. It did so without warning and without WARN, a state and federal law requiring advance notice of a large layoff or shutdown. The company has said it was most likely exempt from notifying its 900 full-time and 200 contract workers ahead of time under a loophole in the law, officially known as the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Act.

A spokesman for Solyndra did not immediately respond to a request for comment this morning.

4. I get this sinking feeling when I see

the claims that millions of jobs were created with the stimulus money, and even at its best, it cost taxpayers 200K per job and I think they way over inflated the numbers created out of whole cloth. When will they learn, trickle down stimulus doesn't work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also get frustrated that 500M is fretted away on hopes so to speak. I think we are being bilked at every turn and I want to see people go down for this. Was this more hyperbolic manna from heaven that lines the pockets of campaign contributors under the auspice of "jobs"? And now it is redux time.

2. You have to wonder if management

gave themselves fat bonuses with the loans. I'm not saying they did, it merely seems normal practice these days. Maybe they were honest and straightforward and just got it wrong. Hopefully all this will come out at some point.
