on how the economy is doing by next year.

If it still sucks, the Repubs might not want anything to do with it. To be honest, I'm not even sure they wanted the WH in '08. I really believe they KNEW what would happen, and that nobody would be able to stop the dam from breaking the way it has.

I mean, think of it...John McCain? Sarah Palin? They were NOT serious about winning.

This bunch of Repub candidates doesn't look any better.

But if the economy starts looking up, then who knows. Any one of that bunch could end up being elected...even Rick Perry, as stupid and Dubya-esque as he is.

Then they could play head games and convince themselves that THEY were the ones who turned the economy around. Riding on the coattails, as it were, of whatever good might happen between now and then.
