2. It does, it is called a high pressure dome
that has staid in place this long... and it is climate change related.

10. Oh, the prayers for rain worked.
But the targeting was a little off.

I'm guess they aimed for the "State of Birth of Our Glorious President George W. Bush", forgetting that Bush was born in Connecticut.

We've had a foot of rain in the past 4 weeks or so. Hell, we've gotten 2.64" in the last 41 hours! With more coming tonight and tomorrow!

14. Well the tide comes in and the tides comes out
no miscommunication...

On a serious matter, try to stay dry.

21. You can't explain that!

Stay dry? Too late! :-( Basement flooded. Thrice. All three times due to pump problems.

Well, technically, the first problem was because I forgot to plug the sump pump into the generator during Irene. :dunce:

23. Yow
I hope you stay dry (or at least your home!). :)

I lived in New Orleans for many years, and I DO, unfortunately, understand what flooding can do. . .

5. I guess you don't think South Texas is part of Texas
don't worry, you're not the only one.

I just wish this damn high pressure area that's been parked on the state for the past year (it seems) would finally weaken & move out so we could get some rain.

Works the same way, and it's all cool and and invisible, and stuff.

I'm afraid my humor is just too dry to really be funny to normal folks.

I hope I didn't offend you! :pals:

11. Boy this is just NOT fair! Look at this chart

I'm not fond of Texas politicians, but the rest of the state does not deserve to dry up like this.

15. Stay safe.
We moved the cattle and other other animals to a small farm of a friend two weeks ago.

We have only 10 head left, but they are safe.

My Aunt is staying there now.

So far the farm is still there, a neighbor calls me every few hours.

The farm is about 50 miles from Austin.

17. I'm sorry....
I'll pray your farm isn't in the path and you can return soon. The fire here is at 150 acres and hopefully they'll get it under control.

This is all so scary and there's just no relief in sight. Take care

18. The animals are now out of state, safe.
The farm near Austin is still there but don't know how long.

The house is made out of rock and has a metal roof.

What will be will be.

It is sitting there empty.

I hope the trees make it, some are very old.

My dogs are so restless tonight and I'm wondering if it's the fires.

20. The sky to the west was so red tonight.
I will have friends coming in from Austin this weekend.

The air is a little cleaner here.

All for the lack of a little rain.

25. That fire is contained now, thank heavens.
But I just heard a new fire has cropped up south of San Antonio; and there are so many others across the state. This website is keeping track of them all and providing updates:
