GIBSON GUITAR WAS RAIDED BY FEDS
First I want to point out that the Justice Department is made up of mostly Republicans.

Who ordered the raid? The Justice Department.

Why were they raided?

Because the wood used in the fretboards was not a finished product from India. The fact is it was a finished product.

Now Republicans are trying to say it was a political move by "The Government".

Obama had nothing to do with the raid. The raid was ordered by the Justice Department.

Digging a little deeper I found this web link below:

http://www.alternet.org/news/82348/

It seems to me Republicans caused the raid so they could point fingers at Democrats.

1. Well, dig a little deeper than that
and you find they've been playing fast and loose with international environmental regulations covering the sale of endangered forest wood.

Dig even deeper and you find that the CEO who's responsible for ordering all this stuff is despised by nearly everyone who works there and that his management style hasn't been limited to skirting environmental laws here and abroad.

Gibson isn't the touchy-feely peace love and fine guitar place it was 30 years ago. Times have changed and they have, too.

2. The Bush-era coopting of the DOJ to swing elections is well known here
However, from what I've read, Gibson guitars was raided because they were using woods from endangered sources.

4. Maybe as simple as helping out another country
that produces guitars that wanted the Justice Department to eliminate competition. We outsource our national memorials, why not our guitars? Heck, we even outsource our military to private corporations under the false premise of troop draw down. We are for sale.

6. Well Gibson also produces guitars in Korea and China under the Epiphone brand
So that's a very unlikely scenario.

5. Just because Gibson used to make great guitars
doesn't mean that they are a particularly good company.
In fact their CEO Henry Juszkiewicz is a world class jerk
with a history of questionable boneheaded moves...
including ruining a once great guitar company.

7. Republicans caused the raid? Total bullshit.

Gibson management are Republicans, openly promoting and supporting republican politicians and proposals. If anything they would be protected by the republicans not targeted. If the republicans were behind this then they would go after one of the many democrat supporting guitar makers.

Maybe Gibson did break the law, maybe not. Maybe they were targeted because they support republicans, maybe not. Nobody knows the why and who yet.

9. In fact, Gibson has been knowingly breaking the law for years.
And even after being warned to cease and desist, still skirted Federal law and are now taking the consequences for that action.

12. That is what happens when you use ILLEGAL WOOD in your guitars.
