2fer: Prediction abt wingnuts' No-plan/Plan Obama. & is country music for political pandering?!1
Even before the debt FAKE crisis, the wingnuts/'Baggers drumbeated that OBAMA had "no plan" and "no budget." So now the President is going to put forth a plan. This is the easiest prediction ever: Wingnuts will now put a target on each one of the parts of the Plan and fire fire fire away, even or especially at the parts that are things THEY want.

And in the snippets at C-SPAN of political rallies, especially the wingnut/'Bagger events, it's always country music. Toby KEITH has said that he's not a wingnut, that he was mainly reacting to 9-11, but his "put a boot up their ass, that's the American way" certainly strikes a cord with the 'Baggers. And one of several nails in the DUKAKIS coffin was his attendance at a concert of classical atonal music. *That* certainly pegged him as UN-American.

1. I find the country music community to be exceptionally hideous.

Their implied and these days explicit claim that "they are America", are highly offensive.

And yes, what happened to the Dixie Chicks and The Beatles weighs heavily when I consider the genre, the "artists" and fanbase.
Not much good can be said about the country music fan base.

2. I agree wholeheartedly. Country music was once apolitical and even more progressive
because musicians and artists tend to be more progressive. It's the money. Not long ago waving the flag at a country concert was cheap applause now waving the flag has become almost necessary part of a country concert. The same way the manufacturing of American flags has been moved to China, it's more profitable to make flags there. I know some of the major current country stars. Most are easily led by corporate PR types and the line is, "You don't want to alienate any part of your buying customer." They apparently don't give a rats ass about pissing off progressives.

3. Yip, and it's usually the candidates who really are out of touch with regular people, and who
think it's a cynical shortcut to connecting to them. This is condescension to the max, stereotyping.
