1. Right alongside a gasoline tanker....
Coulda been a big boom.

The guy is actually very lucky. It looks like his car was jammed into a house at the end of the video. Many people perished when they were trapped in their floating cars and swept out to sea, where they eventually sank.

2. Stunning
Sad, heartbreaking, horrifying, very disturbing.

I don't know what else to say. It hurt my heart to watch it.

14. funny how the passenger in the other car gets out, then politely closes the door
or maybe the others were yelling "CLOSE THE DOOR!"

5. He survived!
That's how the video came to be salvaged. His delivery truck was caught inside a garage bay (that last shot) and he was unhurt.

I have to wonder about the guy who abandoned his car (going back to close the door!) and the one who got out and sat on the roof of his car. Those are the guys who probably didn't make it out alive.

12. I live in the high desert which is major flash flood country
and I know better than to drive my car over a dip in the road that's got water flowing over it. 6 inches of water will sweep a car away out here and I've seen refrigerators and even a garden shed going down some of the arroyos when the storm wasn't even visible.

7. Watch it on full screen...
It feels as though you're right there in the car with him...

I've seen a lot of tsunami videos. This was nearly the scariest, by far...

SO glad he survived!

15. I would want to distance myself from that tanker truck.

And from the high tension power lines I saw not too far away.

one scary video

I would probably been one of the ones who jumped out... As stoic as the Japanese tend to be, I imagine there are plenty of cases of PTSD in the survivors.
