Smoke in Austin area due to wildfires
AUSTIN (KXAN) - You might be seeing a lot of smoke in the Austin city limits.

Here's why: National Weather Service officials said the reason behind the current smoke problems is due to an inversion in the atmosphere that is keeping smoke low to the ground. Prevailing winds are blowing smoke into Travis County and the city of Austin.

The firestorm has already prompted air concerns, especially for those immediately in the impacted areas.

The smoke can be smelled for miles as winds blow the massive plumes.

I'm looking out my buildings window (I'm located right next to Town Lake), the air is thick. It reminds me of massive L.A. smog ( I used to live there for a short time). The hill country is usually visible from our windows, but the visibility today is maybe a mile. And that mile is a thick blurry brown smokey mile. The building management just told us that the A/C for the building has been put on recirculation to prevent smoke and smoke smells from coming in. I've had a mild cough due the smoke and a "raspy" throat. My allergies are now just starting to kick in! Weee!!! I love climate change!!
