The Fires in Texas are what the National Guard is for not
the god damn fucking wars we are fighting.

They are the 'NATIONAL' guard not the 'Empires' guard

End the fucking imperialistic wars now and bring the troops home. Earthquakes, Floods, Fires, Tornados those are things that I remember the national guard were for .

Don't forget the Mayan Calendar is just around the corner....wink, wink.

4. Maybe the US could win the minds and hearts of the people
by building roads, schools, bridges, and put the locals to work.

I know now this is brilliant

..... the US needs to invade the US

8. Texas has a state guard that is separate from national guard
It's under the governor's command, and cannot be deployed outside of Texas. I'm quite sure they are deployed right now, since most units are logistics and police.

10. Fighting America's wars is their primary reason for existing.
The National Guard has been a component of the United States Army since 1916. The NG made up 40 percent of US ground force in WWI. In WWII 19 NG divisions fought overseas. Another 140,000 guardsmen were mobilized for Korea.

This notion that the NG is not a integral part of the US military is nonsense.

12. And during Vietnam they were mobilized to shoot anti-war protesters
And the amazing thing about that is most of the guys in the guard during that time were in the guard to avoid being drafted and sent to Vietnam and into combat.

13. Vietnam was the exception.
Because of Vietnam it was decided to bind the NG even closer to the regular army such that America could not.fight a war without it.
