Free Almond Tree seedlings - Sacramento CA
OK - I confess, I got lazy and instead of raking up the last few almonds and processing them in the drying rack I ran over them with the lawn mower. We have 2 almond trees and it is more then we can use.

Now I have 2 dozen 6" Almond tree seedlings that have been growing up in my lawn I would like to give away to progressives and dems that would like to have then. I've dug them up and potted them in potting soil so they will keep fine for a year or 2 until you find a suitable location to grow them. Fully grown they reach 35 - 40 feet tall and provide excellent shade. The narrow leaves fall mostly straight down and are considerably less mess in the yard

PM me if your interested

1. Here in St. Paul, MN, if almond trees would grow, the squirrels would
take care of all the almonds just fine. You wouldn't ever have to worry about drying any.

5. We had squirrels with purple feet
The mulberry trees dropped their juicy morsels all over the roof, and the squirrels "inked up" as they attacked the black walnut trees' bounty.

The rains of fall made the roofs on our block "bleed"

I could never understand how those squirrels opened the black walnuts.. I had the (not so) envied job of whacking them with a hammer to crack them open:)

7. We have a mulberry tree, too.
The birds eat them, so there are purple spots all over the sidewalk from their droppings. It fades away after a while. Squirrels can open any nut. I threw out some macadamia nuts I brought home from my parents' yard. The squirrels made short work of them. Good gnawers, they are.

8. We had 6 Franquett Walnut trees when I was a kid
and Mom would have us out in the yard processing walnut turning our hands black every year. I think 1 year when money was tight Dad and Mom sold 200 Lbs of dried husked walnuts to the local super market so they could buy us Christmas

6. Around here the Chicken Hawks would eat the squirrels
My neighbor had some nice bantam hens but she didn't have a descent coop for them to hide in

9. Lots of hawks here, too. the squirrels keep a close eye on
the sky. None of them have been killed yet.

11. Can't explain the lack of squirrels then
Except for we are in the Red Tail Hawk's migration pattern and originally this was an Egg Ranching / Almond Farming community and there are still Chicken Hawks who call it home. Older neighborhood with lots of well established trees too

10. I know I can use Craig's list
like I said Dems and Progressives are my first choice. More likely to appreciate a nice environmentally friendly jester as Almond Trees

3. Used to visit friends up in Colusa and loved seeing the almond trees,
or ammons, as the locals called them.

They really are beautiful trees, esp. in the early spring.
