37th Annual National Suicide Prevention Week is this week.

Every day is struggle to build up my son's self esteem...so that the cycle doesn't repeat itself. Every day is fighting my own battle, against the grief that is still sometimes overwhelming, as I search for understanding. I have finally allowed myself to be angry at MrG--not for myself, but for my kids. How could he have thought they would be "okay" without him? Suicidal behavior is a treatable medical condition. I believed my husband when, upon finding the body of his father, he said,"I would never do that to my children." I should not have believed him. I didn't believe my father-in-law when he said,"Someday I will just end it all with my gun." I should have believed him.

Every day is about finding reasons to live. It is tough, but they are there. Even in the smallest of things, like waking up to a (usually witchy) cat curled up against you...almost as if she knew that you had a rough night.

My thoughts, and my efforts, go out to all of those who struggle with the loss of a loved one through suicide. My hand, my shoulder, my ear, and my experience go out to all of those who think that suicide will somehow make things better. It never does, for those left behind. So many, too many, futures are stacked up-never to be experienced.

9. That is exactly what my husband said about his dad.
And I, foolishly, thought that, because he talked about it he would never "really" do it.

Every time you share your story, another person finds strength. You are an inspirational woman. Remember, there are those of us out here in internet land (and now Oklahoma) who always have a shoulder and ear for you to borrow.

11. Not too bad. The weather just took a HUGE turn for the better.
Much cooler now. Mr. BtA is down in your neck of the woods right now, until Friday...again! We have been here 6 months and they have sent him to Houston 4 times. That is more than 5 years we lived in NOLA! We got a new baby...Zatanna. I have pic of her in the pet forum. :)

13. What a sweet baby you have!
I'm not donating anymore so I couldn't post it there. I hope Tony is dealing a bit better. Jessie can commiserate. She couldn't believe it when I brought the puppies home. I hope we can meet up with Mr. BtA sometime when he's down here! :loveya:
