I no longer think Rick Perry will be the Republican nominee.
His public statements, personal life and record as governor will turn off contributors and primary voters outside Texas and the Deep South. Romney will bury him in the North, West and Midwest. Bachmann may even get her earlier supporters back.

1. Of course he won't be. Neither will Bachman or Palin, or Paul, or any of their other nutcases
Money will find better.

18. Yeah. That's who Rove is angling for. There isn't anyone else that interests him
in the race so far.

17. Precisely
They are simply part of the media noise machine. Sort of the warm - up act for the GOP.

2. I'd bet money he'll be the puke nom. I'll go further to say he'll win the whole enchilada
He's a mix of Reagan's good hair and vapid personality mixed with shrub's (and daddy's) willingness and likelihood to be a sell out and handled like an incompetent puppet.

4. I don't either, but I can't picture Mittens as the nominee either
Doesn't really matter IMO, Obama is going to win reelection no matter who they pick.

5. If Huntsman gets any traction, and he might if he does well in the
debates, he might be a contender. If he should win, Pres. Obama has a problem.

6. This is just a clusterf**k, like it was 4 years ago.
The repug establishment knows there isn't a chance in hell any of their people can win in a general vs. Obama, so they're just letting the clown car disgorge as many delusional egomaniacs as want to run.

7. Perry will carry the republican base. Teabaggers, fundamentalists, anti-immigrant,
anti-gay, anti-minority, anti-government, birthers and every other intolerant group.

12. The big contributors care less about his rhetoric
It is a matter if he will agree to play their game. And he, just like bu$h can do or say anything he wants because he will do what the oligarchs want him to do.

16. I thought it would be Jeb, but the cowboy loving media is weak in the knees for Perry.
Bachman is another Palin and thus will have to fight against Palin fatigue. If she wants to, she could come in a strong second; maybe even VP. But I think the media has already decided on Perry. The only one who can touch him is another cowboy type, like Jeb Bush. That's my armchair free think...

19. The plan was never to have him run for president
The plan was to get rid of a candidate who can't win in the general but might have won the primary.

His job was to knock off Bachmann right from the start and he has just about achieved that. What is she polling right now? About 7% I think. She will give up soon. and then Parry will pull out for "personal", reasons. Health reasons? Wants to spend more time with the family? Some bullshit reason.
