In the world's breadbasket, climate change feeds some worry

(Reuters) - It can't happen here, can it?

The United States, the breadbasket and supplier of last resort for a hungry world, has been such an amazing food producer in the last half-century that most Americans take for granted annual bounteous harvests of grain, meat, dairy, fruits, vegetables and other crops.

When horrific images of drought or famine in Africa, Asia or other regions land in American media, America is usually first in line with food aid shipments, air drops, and other rescue efforts from its seemingly endless stores.

The U.S. alone accounts for half of all world corn exports, 40 percent of soybean exports and 30 percent of wheat exports.

But climate change fears are sounding some warning bells.

From what we've seen of Global Warming over last 15-20 years -- this was predictable.

We are now about to feel the effects of human activity on Global Warming from 1960 onwards!

Imagine all we did after that time --

Melting of glaciers will also bring increasing numbers of earthquakes -- and more severe

earthquakes --

No one can say how all of this will compound -- but we know Global Warming is bringing droughts/

floods, more storms/hurricanes, cyclones and tornadoes --

More events and more severe events -- !!

2. We are on the edge of the Extreme Drought Zone (Central West Arkansas)
and this Summer was brutal. Last Summer was no fun either.
Those just to the west of us had it much worse.

If this is the "New Normal" we are all fucked.
Not 20 years from now....but right NOW.

Due to the Heat/Drought, there is not enough hay to feed the cattle this Winter.
Expect higher prices for Beef & Grain products this year.
