Perry "Frustrated" by Fed Response to Central Tx Fires
Edited on Tue Sep-06-11 04:25 PM by my2sense
Three days after fires started to burn in Central Texas, Gov. Rick Perry today expressed frustration that federal firefighting support, including equipment from Fort Hood, has yet to make its way to the firefighters.

Perry said the firefighters could use heavy equipment such as bulldozers to clear fire breaks.

“It’s more difficult than it should be,”he said. “When you have people hurting, when lives are in danger, I don’t care who owns the asset.”
While Fort Hood is battling its own large wildfire — a 3,700-acre blaze on an unoccupied section of the post jumped a fire line Monday night — that might not be the main obstacle.

It appears Perry’s request for aid is wending its way through the federal bureaucracy.

“Fort Hood officials are aware of a potential request for support,” Fort Hood spokesman Col. Ben Danner said in a statement. “Our officials are working closely with federal and state agencies to determine the courses of action available.”

---------------

So now he needs the Feds help AFTER he was toying with secession? He can't seem to make up his mind. We've ALWAYS needed FED help during emergencies....as every other state. He is such an embarrassment.

2. I've never heard anyone say, "Too bad my house burned down. At least I'm not paying higher taxes."
Looks like Governor Goodhair is about to learn that lesson.

Too bad so many of his consituents are having to learn it because he's sucha douchebag idealogue.

I thought he wanted his state to become it's own country with Perry the self appointed king?

8. Why did parry cut VFD funds by 75%??
He is back in town for a couple of hours and is complaining because no one is helping him
Perhaps if he stayed in Texas and did his job things would be better............

44. like Chris Matthews, it depends on medications and the direction of the wind
Who knows what he'll do from the White House?

Today, he needs Fed resources to look good.
Yesterday, no so much.
Tomorrow, he could cut everything.

11. It's an ongoing whine. Here's an article from April begging for Fed help
After praying for rain didn't work

In a strongly worded letter to President Obama on April 16, Texas Gov. Rick Perry asked for a federal emergency declaration that would release more US resources – and cash – to fight what may be the worst wildfire season in Lone Star State history.

17. Please forget about Parry ...
Parry is one man and despite the unfortunate fact that he represents the State of Texas, he does not have its best interests at heart. Please think about the United States citizens in Texas that are suffering and not Parry's many calls to secede.

19. I certainly hope whatever Federal aid is available isn't held up unduly. . .
on account of that loudmouth secessionist.

Those people need help and should receive it as quickly as it can be organized - at all levels of government.

23. I'm a Texan and I KNOW we need help NOW
I'm simply pointing out the hypocrisy of this idiot that some folks voted into office of this great state. There are fires all around us and people have lost everything. My criticism of him is separate for my empathy for those that have lost their possessions and in some cases their very lives. That being said, Perry should be hammered on his hypocrisy from now until he shuffles back and plants himself under the rock he came from under.

Odd how reality keeps biting these folks in the behind
Fortunately, unencumbered as they are by the thought process, folks like Gov. Goodhair and the Tea Baggers never quite connect reality with their political "philosophy," best summed up as "Me first and fuck you." No, Mr. Perry, fuck YOU!

It's more difficult than it should be, he said. Well sure, why didn't he send a letter directly to Eric Cantor? Would have saved a lot of time.

In fact, you're such a big ASS that Texas is probably the only state big enough to fit your ASS. Although I'm sure a whole lot of Texas wishes now that other states would make some room for an ASS so big.
